Apple Pressures LG For iPads Display Production
Apple is facing a huge trouble these days due to increasing demand of iPad. Though it’s a matter of joy but it’s becoming headache for Apple whereas Apple is trying it’s best to tackle the situation but the current issue for Apple is displays for iPad. The company (LG) who feeds Apple for iPad’s display is not able to produce as many displays which apple is looking for.
Last year, LG secured a $500 million contract from Apple to supply iPads LCD displays but even after putting it’s complete potential LG is unable to feed Apple that much volume of displays which Apple is looking for to satisy it’s huge customer base.
LG’s CEO Kwon Young-Soo said his company is having trouble filling orders for iPad displays, even though his factories are running at “full capacity.”
“Demand (from Apple) keeps growing and we can’t meet it all,” Kwon said.
LG’s Kwon said he is considering to increase production of iPad displays, but even then LG won’t be able to make enough until early 2011.
Apple and LG both are caught off guard by increasing demand of iPad. Apple has sold almost 3.3 million iPads since early April, and still demand is getting increased day by day. Apple revealed the reason behind that, the interest shown by those consumers who aren’t usually early adopters of technology, in the iPad.
“Both (the iPad) and the iPhone 4, we had backlogged at end of last quarter,” Apple COO Tim Cook said during its earnings call. “We are selling both of those products as fast as we can make them.“
